Easy French Dip Sliders (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
02 - 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
03 - 2 teaspoons fresh thyme, minced
04 - 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
05 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
06 - 12 sweet rolls
07 - 10 slices provolone cheese
08 - 14 ounces sliced deli roast beef
09 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
10 - 1 1/2 tablespoons dried onion soup mix
11 - 1 packet au jus gravy mix
12 - 3 cups water
13 - Fresh chopped parsley for garnish, optional

# Instructions:

01 - In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onions and coat in the butter. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 12-15 minutes until the onions are soft and browned but not burnt.
02 - Add the thyme, salt, and pepper, stir to combine, take off the heat, and set aside.
03 - Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Take the rolls out of the package, leaving them intact. Using a large knife, slice the rolls across so you have the tops and bottoms separated. Place the bottom halves, cut side up, into an 11x7 baking dish.
04 - Top the rolls with half of the cheese slices, followed by the roast beef. Spread the caramelized onions evenly on top, add the remaining cheese slices, and place the tops of the rolls back on.
05 - In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter and dried onion soup mix. Brush this mixture evenly over the tops of the rolls.
06 - Loosely cover the dish with foil, ensuring it does not touch the rolls. Bake for 25 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes to brown the tops.
07 - Prepare the au jus according to the package instructions, combining the gravy mix with water. Serve the baked sliders with au jus on the side for dipping. Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired.

# Notes:

01 - Dried herbs can be substituted for fresh herbs by halving the quantity.
02 - Sweet rolls are recommended, but other slider buns can be used.
03 - Provolone or mozzarella cheese are preferred for this recipe.
04 - The au jus dipping sauce is optional but enhances flavor.
05 - Sliders can be frozen for later use.
