01 -
Peel and finely chop the garlic cloves. Peel the onions and slice them into rings. Cut the chicken into strips or pieces.
02 -
Heat some oil in a large pot and sear the chicken on all sides until lightly browned. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Remove the chicken from the pot and set aside.
03 -
In the same pot, sauté the onion rings and garlic over medium heat until the onions are soft and lightly browned. Add brown sugar and let it caramelize briefly.
04 -
Sprinkle flour over the onions, briefly sauté and stir. Deglaze with chicken broth and cream. Add parsley, thyme, and a splash of lemon juice. Bring the sauce to a boil and simmer over low heat for 5-10 minutes until slightly thickened.
05 -
Return the browned chicken strips to the sauce and stir everything together. If desired, stir in the grated cheese to make the sauce even creamier. Season the sauce with salt, pepper, and lemon juice to taste. Stir well and simmer over low heat for about 10 minutes until the chicken is fully cooked.
06 -
Serve with pasta, rice, or potatoes.
