01 -
Wash and peel the potatoes and the onion.
02 -
Grate the potatoes into a bowl using the grater's fine side. Grate the onion as well, or finely chop it if grating is difficult.
03 -
If the grated potatoes contain excess water, drain it by squeezing them in your hand.
04 -
Add salt, pepper (if making savory pancakes), flour, and the egg to the grated mixture. Mix thoroughly until the batter is uniform, preferably with clean hands.
05 -
Heat two tablespoons of oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
06 -
Scoop two tablespoons of batter per pancake into the frying pan, ensuring the pancakes are not too thick or large. Fry 2-4 pancakes at a time, depending on pan size.
07 -
Cook each side until golden brown, approximately 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from the pan and place on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
08 -
Place the cooked pancakes in a preheated oven to keep them warm while preparing the remaining batter. Add more oil to the pan as needed.
09 -
Serve hot with apple sauce for sweet flavor or sour cream, yogurt, or quark for a savory option.
