Rainbow Candy Apples Treat (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - Medium apples, such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji, washed and dried
02 - Wooden sticks or skewers
03 - Granulated sugar
04 - Light corn syrup
05 - Water
06 - Gel food coloring in rainbow shades (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)
07 - Vanilla extract (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Wash and dry apples thoroughly. Remove stems and insert wooden sticks into the tops of the apples.
02 - Place prepared apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet to prevent sticking while cooling.
03 - Combine granulated sugar, light corn syrup, and water in a medium saucepan. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring gently until sugar dissolves.
04 - Attach a candy thermometer to the saucepan and cook until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage). Monitor carefully to avoid burning.
05 - Remove saucepan from heat. Stir in vanilla extract if using, then divide the syrup into small heatproof bowls. Tint each bowl with a different gel food coloring.
06 - Drizzle small amounts of each colored syrup into a single dipping bowl to create a rainbow swirl effect.
07 - Holding the stick, dip each apple into the rainbow mixture, twisting slightly to coat evenly. Let excess syrup drip off before placing on parchment paper.
08 - Place dipped apples on parchment paper to cool completely until the candy shell is firm and glossy.

# Notes:

01 - Ensure apples are completely dry before dipping to help the candy stick properly.
02 - Use a candy thermometer for precise temperature control.
03 - Work quickly when dipping to prevent syrup from hardening prematurely.
